Due to COVID our church decided to use the time wisely and remodel our worship space, with that came the purchasing of new chairs, audio equipment, and other items. I volunteered to sell the old items and put all the money back towards what we had just purchased. I was able to sell about 120 chairs, two bookcases, 3 rugs, sound equipment, and more in just a few days via FB marketplace. It is fun to serve in areas where you have experience and are able to help others with those skills. It was even better to know that every item is now being used by others and not merely just thrown away. My service included, cleaning the items, photographing, listing, talking to possibly buyers, coordinating times to meet and sell the items, and then loading them up and sending them on their way.
We had a great group of kids but this season was tough. Thankful that we were able to teach the kids more about life than simply just basketball. Coaching is truly one of my passions and I trust we made a big impact in these kid's lives.
I enjoy coaching as always and love doing it with my good friend Drew Thomas. We are coaching 5th and 6th graders in a church league and I look forward to the rest of the season.
Following service I was one of the team members who weekly assisted with counting, recording, and depositing the offering. We took the offering and then used the pastor's office to dual count all of the money, and prepare it to be dropped at the bank.
Over multiple months I was able to help set up and break down for events hosted following Sunday service. These events were mainly potlucks with our congregation and new members. I have enjoyed seeing our church body grow and being a small piece of the puzzle.
I have the pleasure of coaching second grade boys in basketball with my guy Crawford. The season has just recently started and we have only had a few practices but I know we have our hands full. Our kids are full of energy and cannot hardly stand still, but as the season progresses I know we will enrich our kids as both men and basketball players.
I spent time at MK's house, the Arrow's Nest, hanging out with kids and playing basketball. Many of these kids come from troubled backgrounds and so I spent my time investing in them and helping in any way I can. Every hour there was full of smiles and good laughs, just being able to step away from everyday life.
