EXPERIENCE
We ask that those volunteering as metalsmiths have a minimum of one to two years experience working with metals, including students.

For those interested in attending but are just joining the metals community, we recommend that you sign up for one of our non-metalsmith volunteer opportunities. Even as a non-metalsmith volunteer there are plenty of opportunities over the weekend to meet and network and see demonstrations!

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Please register for all the shifts or days you plan on attending!

This means you will need to select multiples times and/or days when filling out the form. It may redirect you to a new page to select multiple dates.

Due to limited capacity, we ask that you register for at least two days. Single day registrations may be cancelled at the discretion of the Metal Museum.

You will be required to attend orientation and safety meeting prior to being able to work in a studio area. If you do not attend your safety meeting the morning of your scheduled volunteer time, you will be unable to volunteer in your area that day. The dates and time of the safety meetings will be listed in the volunteer schedule that will be provided in advance after registration.

Description

Our library books need some love! Duties include sitting at a table, assessing what a book might need to make it sturdy again, and working to fix it. Most times, fixing the books will just require neatly taping book covers back together using book tape and a burnishing tool. Those who are fastidious and can do the job neatly are welcome to come help!
