Virtual Volunteer Day

The Memphis Child Advocacy Center invites you to join us in making awareness flags to raise awareness of child abuse. Awareness flags are modeled after Tibetan Prayer Flags, which are made of colorful pieces of rectangular cloth. Each color of the flags represent one of the five elements:

• Blue- sky
• White- air
• Red- fire
• Green- water
• Yellow- earth

This is a fun activity for the entire family. After you’ve made your flag, you can display at your home and post pictures on social media. Be sure to use the hashtag #awareness901 when you post.

The material list:

• Paper, each of the above listed colors if you have it
• Stapler
• Scissors
• Markers, crayons, pencils

Optional Extras:

• String, ribbon, dowel, stick
• Photos, words and images cut from magazines
• Stickers
• Fabric scraps, felt, fabric glue or needle and thread

Once you complete the project, upload a picture to any social media outlet, tag both organizations, and use the #VolunteerOdyssey for a chance to win a prize at the end of the day.
