In the Fall of 1972, with the Neophyte "Big Will" Wooten (Spr' 71) as the D.P., The Eight Wonders crossed the burning sands of Omega and gave this undergraduate "colony" the required numbers. These young brothers then threw parties and fundraisers and even gave blood at the Student Donor Center to raise money to pay for the Chapter Charter Application. At the District meeting held in Jackson, TN in March of 1973, the application was sent in and the paperwork and charter returned in the Fall. On September 28, 1973, The Magnificent Xi Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi was officially chartered at Memphis State University, now known as the University of Memphis.
