Almost Home Retreat

The social epidemic of domestic violence produces new victims daily.  A myriad perversions lead to a culture of 'supply and demand' for sex slaves and battered women. This is realized in our time through increased numbers of men, women and children oppressed by being enslaved in human trafficking rings. The numbers continue to increase of people controlled by others through emotional manipulation, verbal and sexual abuse, financial control and/or physical harm. Neglect is one of the most traumatic forms of abuse. These examples of gross misconduct leads to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and shattered lives.  Memphis and Shelby County currently have the highest number of adverse childhood experiences in the nation.

Almost Home Retreat seeks to interrupt the devastating effects of these abuses, purposing to minimize the former traumas to the most insignificant remnants possible. Using art curriculum and healthy thought pattern adjustments, former victims learn how to process the devastating abuses in new and healing ways. We actively address the hurts in a way few programs ever have before by allowing the participant to progress at their own pace which brings optimum repair to the whole person. Resurrection of hope is paramount while rebuilding the future and restoration are all a part of our process to replace the past.  We believe safe vulnerability coupled with purposeful accountability and true authenticity in community will bring healing.
