The Carpenter's House is a sanctuary for urban ministry. Currently, it is a space shared by Room in the Inn, Urban Bicycle Food Ministry, and Iona Community of Faith's Burrito Ministry as a headquarters for all three ministries.
Each evening, Room in the Inn uses this building as the check-in and transportation hub for our guests during the winter.
Beginning November 27, 2018 we will open The Carpenter's House as a Day Center to offer warmth and hospitality to our guests from 1-4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Together with nearly 50 faith communities across Memphis, we provide emergency shelter and meals during the cold winter months of the year. We call this Holy Hospitality. Fellowship and sharing is the critical element of this intimate experience. Each volunteer has a unique opportunity to offer the gift of hospitality.
