🍎 Porter-Leath Pals support our incredible teachers in classrooms across the city by reading with children, engaging in play-based learning, encouraging curiosity, and helping with simple classroom activities. No teaching experience is required! Just a caring heart, a positive attitude, and a willingness to make a child's day a little brighter.
When you register, you'll have the opportunity to indicate the age group you'd most enjoy supporting:
👶 Infants (6 weeks–12 months)
🧸 Toddlers (1–2 years)
🎨 Preschool (3–5 years)
You may also assist teachers by preparing classroom materials, organizing learning spaces, and supporting special activities as needed. Volunteers always serve alongside Porter-Leath staff and help create a welcoming, engaging environment where children can thrive.
🕘 Volunteer shifts available at 12 sites Monday–Friday from 9:00–11:30 a.m. with occasional afternoon openings. Customized time slots can be discussed as needed.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older, or 16 and older with a chaperone.

Complete a brief volunteer application and orientation.

You'll be matched with a classroom based on your availability and current volunteer needs.

A background check may be required depending on the nature or frequency of your volunteer service.
