|Age Limit||21 and up|
Become a CASA volunteer by taking our blended learning curriculum. Complete the online portion of training at your own pace and then come together with other trainees every Wednesday from 5:30 - 8:30 PM at Shelby County Juvenile Court for 5 weeks in a row.
Your training will cover:
The role of a CASA volunteer
Child abuse laws and the child welfare system
Risk factors for child abuse in families
The impact of mental health, domestic violence, and poverty on children
Structuring and completing an investigation
Writing effective court reports
You will receive over 32 hours of guided learning during this training which will include a mandatory court observation during regular business hours.
High School diploma or GED required.
Background check with no criminal history
Valid driver's license and current auto insurance

|Parking Details||Parking is available in the free lot next to 637 Poplar. The building in that lot is not the courthouse. The court is located across Washington Avenue in the large brick building with the steps outside. Please leave anything that could be construed as a weapon in your car and don't leave any valuables showing. You are allowed to park in the Reserved spaces after 5 PM.|
