History to Hip-Hop chronicles the evolution of African-American music from the field song to hip-hop. The African-infused field song is the inspiration and the springboard for exploring other genres like gospel, country, jazz, R&B, blues, funk, and hip-hop. In this historical walk, Jonathan Blanchard celebrates the creativity of a people and the impact of African-American music on the world.

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
- Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.
- Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.
If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
Perks
One of the major perks of volunteering at GPAC and The Grove is that you have an opportunity to watch our performances! We cannot always guarantee a designated theater seat, but we encourage you to find a spot where you can prioritize your assignments while also enjoying the show.
Parking Details
You may park in the parking lot in front of the building. If you are able, please park in the north east corner of the lot so that patrons and guests with limited mobility have access to the closer parking spaces.
