The UMazing Tech Race

The University of Memphis FedEx Institute of Technology and CodeCrew are teaming up to host the inaugural UMazing Tech Race. The event will take place at the FedEx Institute of Technology at 365 Innovation Drive on the campus of The University of Memphis.

Similar to the well-known televised race, this event will feature two-person teams competing in technology-focused circuits that help them gain clues, leading them to the next stop in the race. These five circuits include virtual reality (VR), drones, Sphero Bolt robots, Lightbot, and a Crews Techpreneurship TikTok Challenge (CTTC) sponsored by the UofM Crews Center for Entrepreneurship. During each of these challenges, teams will work to successfully navigate each circuit, with the ultimate goal of finishing the race with the best time.

The race is open to the general public, including those in 6th-12th grade. Anyone on a team under the age of 18 is required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the race for safety and this person is not allowed to assist in any way. Overall prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Along with special prizes for teams that win each circuit. The registration fee is $10 for students in 6th-12th grades, and $25 for adults. There is no fee for chaperones of teams where students are under 18.
