Tutor an adult in reading around your schedule

Open Opportunity

About

No one should be held back from a dream because of their reading or language abilities. As a volunteer tutor with Literacy Mid-South, you will play a critical role in helping an adult gain the basic literacy and language skills necessary to live their best life.

If you are comfortable reading and/or speaking English and are excited to connect with a learner, you are ready to be trained as a tutor. With your talents plus our training and support, you’ll be ready to empower an adult learner to master the basic literacy and language skills they need to achieve their goals.

Volunteer tutors will work with adults who read below a sixth-grade level on their reading skills or working with adult English Language Learners to develop their conversational English skills.

All volunteers work with learners for about two hours a week to help them develop basic literacy and language skills, build confidence, and reach personal goals. By empowering individual learners, volunteer tutors are vital in achieving Literacy Mid-South’s vision of 100% literacy in the communities we call home.
