About

Become a YV5K and 10Miler race day volunteer; volunteers take part in every aspect of the race and are essential to a successful race day! Before volunteering at the race, you will need to complete a confidentiality and liability waiver in addition to a mandatory training.

Our refreshment volunteers will help with assembling, plating and serving food. You will also receive a complimentary shirt for volunteering.

There will also be live music, refreshments and children's activities after the race if you'd like to participate!

Please reach out to lydia.miller@youthvillages.org if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Requirement Details

While we are still planning to have an in-person, timed race and post-race celebration, we have put some safety precautions in place to ensure we maintain safety, including:

  •   Capacity of 750 runners
  • An extended start time. The 10Miler will start between 8:00 and 8:10am and the 5K will start between 8:30 and 8:40am. That means that racers can spread out and start when they feel comfortable, and will be timed based on when they actually start and finish the race.
  • Additionally, we will serve whole fruit and wrapped snacks.

Volunteers will check in at the registration table. You will be required to have your temperature checked answer screening questions at this time.

  • Your temp must be lower than 100 degrees.
  • Your response to all below screening questions must be no or you will be required to leave:
    • Have you had a fever in the last 48hrs?
    • Have you had a new loss of taste or smell?
    • Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24hrs?
    • Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath or a sore throat?
  • Masks are required for all volunteers. If you need a mask, Youth Villages will provide you with one. Please note that we are also requiring water station and refreshment volunteers to wear gloves.
    • Masks must be worn appropriately at all times, including while outside and participating in activities.
  • We ask all volunteers to use hand sanitizer prior to interacting with others, and between groups when possible. We will provide hand sanitizer in volunteering areas.

Social Distancing

  •  Whenever possible, volunteers will maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from other volunteers, staff and children.
  • Volunteers will sneeze or cough in a cloth or tissue, if any are unavailable the inside of their elbow.
  •  No unnecessary physical contact is allowed including hand-shaking, hugging, high fives, fist or elbow bumps.
  • In the event a child is not complying with social distancing guidelines, volunteers will be asked to refrain from interacting with them, but may be given an alternative activity that can be safely conducted.

Subject to change. Due to the severity of the Delta Variant and the rising number of COVID-19 cases in our community, we are monitoring restrictions daily and will update these recommendations based on local protocols and CDC guidelines.
