Zero Waste Event Volunteer - Shift Two

Listed by May Day

About

Who loves recycling and music?!  Volunteers are the most important part to help us reach our goal of making this a zero waste-to-landfill festival! We will train you and will provide gloves.

Recycling Attendant volunteers are stationed at one of five waste areas. They will direct attendees to deposit waste materials into the appropriate waste bin - compost, recycle, or landfill. They will also sort items into the appropriate bin if needed. Clean materials makes sure recycling and compost facilities can accept materials from festivals.

Volunteers will collect full bags of materials from the waste areas and bring them back to the Zero Waste staging area. We make sure no bags overflow and the grounds stay clean and well-maintained.

Volunteers will aslo learn about zero waste practices so they can educate event attendees about what's recyclable, compostable or reusable. They are our ambassadors to the festival and help bring a face to the festival's goal of going zero waste.

Volunteers will help do litter sweeps and final checks to make sure we're leaving the grounds as clean as when we arrived. The day after the event, we sort one last time at the Compost Fairy processing facility for any contamination & finalize our goal of Zero Waste!
